How to use it
- Drop a blurry or small photo onto the box above, or click to pick one.
- Press Enhance. An AI model sharpens the photo and makes it 4× wider and taller.
- You'll see the original and the result side by side. Press Download to save it as a PNG.
Nothing is uploaded — your photo never leaves your device
This tool does not upload your image anywhere. It downloads a small AI model (about 5 MB) to your browser once, and every calculation then runs on your own device. That makes it safe for family photos, ID scans or work files you'd rather not send to a server. Once the model is cached, it even works offline.
On recent Chrome and Edge it uses your graphics card (WebGPU) for speed; on browsers without it, the same work runs on the CPU — a little slower, same result. Large photos are split into small tiles that are enlarged one by one and stitched back together, so it won't run out of memory on modest devices.
Which photos benefit most
The model is realesr-general-x4v3, a general-purpose network that sharpens ordinary photos and reduces noise. It helps most with:
- Small, old photos — images that got shrunk by messengers or old phones, enlarged enough to print.
- Shop and blog images — low-resolution product shots made crisp and trustworthy.
- Profiles and thumbnails — small images for Instagram or YouTube made sharper.
- Screenshots — small captures whose text and lines become easier to read.
How it works
Plain “stretch to a bigger size” just repeats pixels and looks blurry. This tool uses a neural network trained on many high- and low-quality photo pairs that infers and paints in the missing detail (super-resolution), so edges and textures look far sharper than a simple resize.
Limits
- It cannot invent information that isn't there (heavily smeared text, a face that's completely gone). It sharpens what exists.
- It's fixed at 4×. If you want 2×, download and shrink by half.
- Very large photos are shrunk a little first so the result stays within the browser's canvas limit (the tool tells you when it does this).
- It looks more natural on real photos than on strong illustration or comic art.
When to use it
Great for enlarging a small family photo for a frame, sharpening product shots for a shop or resale listing, or cleaning up a screenshot for a slide. Need the background gone too? Use Background Remover first, then enlarge.
FAQ
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. A small model (~5MB) is downloaded to your browser once, then all processing happens on your own device. Your photo is never uploaded anywhere.
How much bigger does it get?
4× in each dimension (16× the area). If you want 2×, download and shrink by half.
Which photos benefit most?
Small old photos, low-resolution product or profile shots, and screenshots — images that exist but look blurry. It can't invent detail that isn't there.
Is it slow?
Recent Chrome and Edge use your GPU (WebGPU) for speed; other browsers use the CPU, a little slower. Large photos are tiled so it won't stall.
